About:
The Sartell Sabre Football program recently spent a rainy Saturday morning giving back to the community by helping the new Wyndham Garden Inn prepare for its upcoming November opening.
A total of 16 players volunteered for approximately two hours, taking on a variety of general construction-cleaning tasks throughout the property. The student-athletes washed walls, removed stickers from windows, swept rooms, and mopped floors, ultimately helping complete an entire floor of the hotel.
Despite the rainy weather, the players showed up ready to work and willing to help wherever they were needed.
The service project gave the Sabres an opportunity to put the same teamwork and work ethic they rely on during football into action off the field. By contributing their time and effort, the players helped support a new local business while also strengthening their connection to the community.
Efforts like this highlight the important role student-athletes can play beyond competition, using their time, leadership, and teamwork to make a positive impact.
For Sartell Sabre Football, the morning was another example of what it means to be part of something bigger than the game.
