About:
The Seaford Girls Basketball program is once again embracing the spirit of giving this holiday season through a meaningful partnership with the Seaford High School Student Council. Last year, the team joined Student Council’s longstanding annual toy drive—an initiative traditionally run throughout the school—and helped elevate the effort by dedicating one of their winter games to collecting donations. The result was an incredible show of community support and generosity.
Building on that momentum, this year’s toy drive is expanding even further. In addition to involving both levels of the girls and boys basketball teams, Seaford will proudly welcome Island Trees Basketball to join the effort. The connection is especially meaningful, as Island Trees Head Coach Chris McGowan is a Seaford resident, and his daughter plays on the Lady Vikings varsity team. This collaboration brings together two communities united by a shared commitment to service and compassion.
On game day, the Student Council will be on-site from 5–8 PM to collect toys from players, families, and fans. With the added support from additional teams and spectators, Seaford hopes to make an even greater impact for children and families in need during the holiday season.
Last year’s toy drive not only filled donation boxes but also strengthened the bonds within the Seaford community—and this year promises to be even bigger. The team is excited to continue this tradition of giving, leadership, and connection both on and off the court.
