Photo Caption: Students at Searingtown Elementary School in Herricks collected close to 350 gently used plastic toys to donate to the Second Chance Toys Organization. The efforts were spearheaded by the school’s Global Awareness Club in honor of Earth Day. Fifth grader Zayd Ashfer researched the organization and initiated the idea and shared it with fellow club members. The mission of Second Chance Toys is to keep plastic toys out of landfills and put them into the hands of disadvantaged children.
