About:
Throughout October, Section V Field Hockey teams came together to showcase their unity, compassion, and community spirit by hosting Pink Games in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Dressed in pink and filled with purpose, players, coaches, and fans joined forces to raise awareness and honor those impacted by breast cancer — from survivors and fighters to the families and loved ones who stand beside them.
Pink Week, held from September 29 to October 11, allowed teams to step outside their traditional uniforms and proudly wear pink jerseys and socks in a powerful display of solidarity. These games went beyond competition, serving as a reminder of the impact teamwork can have both on and off the field. Each pass, goal, and cheer carried a deeper meaning — one of love, strength, and hope in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
Among the many inspiring efforts, Webster Schroeder partnered with the American Cancer Society’s “Stick It to Cancer” fundraiser. The team set an ambitious goal of raising $1,500, and their passion and dedication helped them surpass that goal by an incredible $1,271.29. Players also took time to personalize signs, writing the names of those they were playing for or loved ones lost to cancer — making the event deeply personal and heartfelt.
Through their collective efforts, Section V Field Hockey teams demonstrated that when communities unite through sport, they have the power to make a lasting difference — one game, one cause, and one act of kindness at a time.
