About:
The Saratoga Springs Girls Lacrosse program is helping inspire the next generation of players by hosting a free youth lacrosse clinic for boys and girls in grades K–6 on March 22.
Led by Coach Joe Pollicino, the clinic provided young athletes with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game while preparing for the upcoming spring season. Participants worked on basic skills, built confidence, and experienced the fast-paced excitement of lacrosse in a supportive and fun environment.
Despite being moved indoors, the event saw an impressive turnout of approximately 80–90 participants. The success of the clinic reflects the strong connection between the Saratoga Springs youth lacrosse program and the high school staff. Both high school players and youth coaches were actively involved, creating a collaborative and engaging experience for all involved.
A key highlight of the clinic was the integration of high school-level skill development, with youth staff leading drills and exercises that mirror the program’s approach. This not only helps young athletes develop their abilities early on but also builds a seamless pathway within the program.
Beyond skill-building, the clinic emphasized the importance of enjoying the game—encouraging players to have fun, support their teammates, and develop a true love for lacrosse.
Events like this play an important role in strengthening the connection between school athletic programs and their communities. By opening the field to younger players, Saratoga Springs Girls Lacrosse continues to demonstrate its commitment to growing the game and supporting youth development both on and off the field.
Serving as a kickoff to the youth season, the clinic set a positive tone for the months ahead and left young athletes excited to continue learning and playing the game
