About:

The first Annual Brandon Sherwood Memorial Ski Race was held at West Mtn in Queensbury, NY on Jan 30, 2023.

The Shen Alpine ski team honored the memory of their friend.

16 schools from Section 2 completed.  Shen parents, spearheaded by Veronique Schaefer and Laurie Bach, designed a commemorative T-shirt for the event and sold them to all the Section 2 athletes.  The t-shirts sales raised over $1000 for Brandon’s Scholarship.

Another Sec2 coach who happens to work for Stewarts Shop reached out to his finance dept and Stewarts Shops donated $500 to the fund.

The overall winners for the night were, women, Micaela Leonard from Shen and men, Collin Cotter from Broadalbin-Perth.

Brandon’s mom, Tricia and dad, Mike were on hand to present awards.

This event was a varsity only race and we had 81 boy and 71 girls compete.  The winning time for the 2 run race 54seconds.

The race satarted at 5pm and was over at 7:45 pm

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Brandon S. Sherwood was tragically taken from this world while doing what he loved most – downhill skiing. A Junior at Shenendehowa, Brandon was an active member of the class of 2023, participating in varsity skiing, the math and tech honor societies, and Scout Troop 4006. He was a quiet, caring, and helpful person who loved to bake for others. He loved to play Minecraft, Stratego, and laugh with his friends. Brandon’s memory will live on forever.
