About:
The coach and the team wanted to come together to create an opportunity for the community and to do some good.
“We’ve all heard stories of student athletes disappointed their senior seasons couldn’t be all they had hoped for. However, it’s not coronavirus that upended the cross-country season for a Shenendehowa runner. It’s cancer.
She’s now got her sights set on a different kind of finish line. Her coaches and teammates have vowed to be with her every step of the way.
Senior Yeva Klingbeil hasn’t been able to run with her friends for nearly a year.
She got diagnosed last October with rhabdomyosarcoma in the jaw.
It was a large mass attached to a nerve in Yeva’s face.
In addition to dealing with the common side effects of chemo and radiation, Yeva suffered some damage to her brain stem and struggles to swallow and even breathe on her own.
Yeva and her teammates will do a little role reversal November 1 with Coach Rob Cloutier, who has decided to run a marathon to raise funds and awareness for Yeva’s continued recovery.
Learn more about the community support Yeva has received by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger’s story.” https://wnyt.com/commit-to-kids/yeva-klingbeil-shenendehowa-marathon-runner-battling-cancer-clifton-park-saratoga-county/5896405/
