About:
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the Smithtown Central School District is proudly joining the fight. Throughout the month, students and staff across the district are rocking gold laces — and other gold clothing items — in support of the Lace Up for Kids campaign, an initiative of the nonprofit Solving Kids’ Cancer.
This meaningful effort brings the school community together to shine a light on childhood cancer while honoring the children and families affected by it.
The campaign in Smithtown has been made possible thanks to the dedication of Smithtown parent and childhood cancer advocate Amy Beach, whose passion and advocacy helped bring the initiative to the district. With the support of Superintendent Dr. Mark Secaur and the leadership of SCSD, students and staff alike are uniting around this cause, demonstrating the power of community in raising awareness.
As gold laces are worn throughout September, Smithtown CSD continues to show that even small acts of solidarity can make a big impact in the lives of children and families battling cancer.
