About:
The Smithtown East Field Hockey program recently came together for a special Memorial Scholarship Game in honor of Valerie Kratochwil, celebrating her life, legacy, and lasting impact on the Bulls community.
Smithtown East hosted Copiague for the meaningful matchup, with players, families, staff, and supporters gathering to remember Val and support the scholarship program created in her honor.
Through raffle baskets, concessions, donations, and the efforts of the field hockey community, the event raised nearly $3,000 for senior scholarships.
The program also recognized generous support from the Floral Park PBA and West Islip Varsity Field Hockey, along with the many field hockey families and East staff members who donated baskets, volunteered their time, and helped make the event possible.
A special rendition of the National Anthem by Ava Andrejko added another meaningful moment to the evening.
The Memorial Scholarship Game was a powerful reflection of the program’s message: “Togetherness. Always. For Val.”Through this annual tradition, Smithtown East continues to keep Valerie’s memory alive while giving back to future graduating student-athletes.
