About:
Each year, the Interact Club at Smithtown East High School takes part in a heartfelt tradition, collecting, organizing, and distributing Thanksgiving meals for local families in need. The families, identified by school social workers and guidance counselors, include those with children across the district, from East High School all the way down to the elementary and middle schools.
This year, Jaedyn Schouten and Izzy Leighley from the Athletes Helping Athletes program took on the responsibility of organizing 10 Thanksgiving meals for families in need. These dedicated students rallied their peers to sign up for item donations and spent time shopping for additional items to complete the meals.
Thanks to the hard work of the Interact Club, Jaedyn, Izzy, and the generous contributions of the Smithtown East community, these families were able to enjoy a warm, fulfilling Thanksgiving dinner. The spirit of giving and teamwork shown by these students is a true reflection of the kindness that defines the Smithtown East community.
Thank you to everyone who made this initiative a success and for spreading holiday cheer to families in need!
