The Smithtown East track community recently continued its summer Track Camp with another night focused on skill development, mentorship, and giving back.
Campers received a special lesson in the fundamentals of the high jump from Smithtown East State Champion Dan Claxton, who joined coaches and volunteers in helping younger athletes learn and build confidence.
The second night of camp was made possible by the support of dedicated volunteers and coaches who gave their time to work directly with the young athletes.
Having accomplished varsity athletes return to share their knowledge creates a special connection between generations of the program. It gives younger athletes the opportunity to learn from someone they can look up to while reinforcing the importance of leadership and giving back.
