About:
On June 21, the Smithtown High School East National Honor Society presented the staff at the New York State-run COVID vaccination site at Stony Brook with thank-you mugs of gratitude.
This year, the honor society members have been focusing on gratitude. According to High School East National Honor Society adviser Maria Zeitlin, the students are incredibly thankful for everything that the faculty and staff have done to make this school year a smooth and successful one. They sought to spread their gratitude outside the school community and were inspired by the hard work of the personnel at the Stony Brook vaccination site.
The students wanted to express their gratitude and came up with the idea of creating a coffee mug. Smithtown High School East senior and artist Nethmi Withanage designed the mug to include a symbol that was missed during COVID: a hug.
