About:
Led by Coach Greg Lauri, High School East football players spent time reading with kindergarten classes, creating meaningful connections with the youngest students. At the same time, student-athletes engaged with fifth graders, sharing powerful messages around sportsmanship, civility, and making positive life choices.
The visit, organized each year by physical education teacher Cami Smith, has become a cherished tradition and a true highlight for the school community. Coach Dan Busold and the football players also shared their personal experiences in sports, reinforcing lessons that extend far beyond the field.
A special thank you to Athletes Helping Athletes coordinator and health and physical education teacher Helen Flynn for helping bring this impactful program to life.
From reading and coloring with kindergarteners to leading thoughtful discussions with older students, the day was filled with connection, mentorship, and inspiration—proving once again the powerful role student-athletes can play in shaping younger generations.
