Each year Smithtown West Girls Field Hockey dedicates a game to their Teacher, Colleague and Friend who left this world all too soon due to Breast Cancer.
Sara Long Harte taught at St. James Elementary School, the very same Elementary school where she attended as a child, for eight years. Her immeasurable impact throughout the community in such a short period lives on today through a Scholarship Fund, a Memorial Garden and a hand-crafted picket fence in front of the St. James Elementary School which was built to honor her by a former student. Her dedication to her students, Charity work with the Sunrise Fund for Childhood Cancer and her unending labor of love for this community will never be forgotten.
On this day they celebrate the life and love of one of their Communities brightest stars in the heavens and Cheer on both Smithtown High School West & Babylon Field Hockey teams as they “Play 4 the Cure!”
