Garden City, N.Y. – This past Sunday (Oct. 2), the Adelphi University softball team attended the Sid Jacobson JCC’s Stronger Than Cancer 5K where they cheered on those who participated in it.
They stood by the corner of a road as they went by into a local neighborhood – the student-athletes encouraged them to complete it through with pom poms and blow up toys to motivate the individuals.
Hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors honored the organization’s director Randy Hight. The event raised more than $200,000 that will help the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center to continue providing 100% free exercise classes, discussion groups, individual counseling, and more to those with a cancer diagnosis and their families.
“It was awesome to see so many people coming together for a great cause! ” said sophomore Courtney Wengryn.
The group was pleased to help support those who took part of this event that supports a great cause.
“It was nice to be able to cheer on others as they supported the cause.” mentioned by senior Claire Fon.
