About:
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, students from the Youth 2 Youth Club at Somers High School came together on May 11th to spread positivity and encouragement throughout their school community.
Through a meaningful “Chalk the Walk” activity, students filled the sidewalks in front of the school with uplifting messages designed to inspire kindness, support, and hope for everyone entering and leaving the building. The colorful words of encouragement served as a reminder that even small acts of positivity can make a powerful impact on someone’s day.
The initiative highlighted the students’ commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment while raising awareness about the importance of mental health. By using creativity and compassion, the Youth 2 Youth Club demonstrated how student-led efforts can help strengthen school culture and encourage open conversations surrounding mental wellness.
Projects like this continue to show how students are making a difference beyond the classroom by promoting empathy, inclusion, and community connection
