About:
Student-athletes from South Side High School recently demonstrated leadership beyond the court by volunteering with the Hoops for All program.
Members of the boys’ varsity basketball team spent time working with younger players, teaching the fundamentals of the game while sharing their enthusiasm for the sport. The event created an opportunity for the high school athletes to serve as role models and mentors to the next generation of players in the Rockville Centre community.
Throughout the session, the varsity players guided drills, offered encouragement, and helped younger athletes develop their skills while emphasizing teamwork, effort, and having fun. The experience not only benefited the youth participants but also reinforced the importance of leadership and community involvement for the student-athletes.
Programs like Hoops for All highlight how athletics can bring communities together while inspiring younger players to stay active and pursue their love of sports.
By volunteering their time and sharing their passion for the game, the student-athletes from South Side High Schoolcontinue to demonstrate that the Cyclone spirit extends far beyond the scoreboard—making a lasting impact on the future of their program and community.
