About:
In marking National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Southampton athletes raised $1,000 for the Daniela Conte Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness, funding research and providing support to families with children affected by cancer.
During September, fall sports teams raised funds and awareness by hosting Gold Lace games, for which the athletes swapped the laces on their cleats and sneakers for gold laces — the national color of childhood cancer awareness.
The cause holds special meaning for Southampton, as several district families and staff members have personally been affected by childhood cancer.
