About:
The Southampton High School Mariners Patriot Club recently launched a new
initiative to honor community members who served during World War I. As part of the
project, seven commemorative banners are now on display in the school’s bus loop. Each
banner features the name and image of a local veteran who served during the war.
Those honored on the banners are Leland J. Burnett, Charles Coulter, William
August Frankenbach, Otto Guildi, Arthur Ellis Ham, Zella de Milhaue and Louis Willumsen.
Club adviser Thea Fry explained that the project expands on the school’s existing
Veterans Honor Roll plaque that is displayed in the school’s lobby. The banners were made
possible through generous donations from the local community.
