About:
The Spencerport Girls Lacrosse team recently brought their energy and enthusiasm to the 2nd Annual Color Run hosted by GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester. With bright smiles and community spirit, the team played an active role in supporting participants throughout the course and celebrating at the finish line, helping to make the event memorable for everyone involved.
Even after the last runner crossed the finish line, the team continued the festivities with a lively, colorful celebration—showcasing how athletes can positively impact their community beyond the playing field.
GiGi’s Playhouse is a Down syndrome achievement center based in Rochester, NY. Last year marked their inaugural Acceptance Challenge Color Run fundraiser, where the Spencerport varsity girls’ lacrosse team first volunteered. They returned this year to support the event once again, cheering participants and spreading color along the course. Two team members also serve on GiGi’s Youth Advisory Board, further strengthening the bond between the lacrosse program and the organization.
The team strongly believes in the importance of giving back, especially to organizations like GiGi’s that offer free programming for individuals with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood. This commitment highlights the valuable lessons young athletes learn about community service and inclusion.
