The holiday season is a time for spreading joy and making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. The Skaneateles Student Athletic Council is once again partnering with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program to bring happiness and hope to children in need. We invite you to join them in this heartwarming initiative and make a meaningful impact in the community.
Toys for Tots, a nationally recognized charitable program with a 76-year history, is administered by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. It aims to provide less fortunate children with gifts that bring smiles to their faces during the holiday season. These toys, books, and other presents not only offer a moment of joy but also provide children with a sense of recognition, confidence, and cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Starting November 13th and running through December 13th, all Skaneateles School District buildings and the Skaneateles Community Center will serve as designated drop-off locations for the community to contribute new, unwrapped toys. Conveniently located collection boxes will be positioned in vestibules, making it easy for everyone to participate.
The details for the Toys for Tots toy drive are as follows:
- What: Donate a new, unwrapped toy
- When: November 13th – December 13th, from 8 am to 3 pm
- Where: Any Skaneateles Central School building vestibule and the Skaneateles Community Center (simply drop your toy in the Toys for Tots bin)
- Why: To bring happiness and hope to less fortunate children during the holiday season
This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and make a difference in the lives of children who could use some extra holiday cheer. The Student Athletic Council was developed as part of the Skaneateles Central School District’s mission to provide positive and successful learning experiences for all students. Specifically, the athletic program offers a balanced educational approach with high expectations that challenge and motivate each student-athlete within a caring environment. The Council’s purpose is to engender and sustain school pride/spirit, improve/beautify our athletic facilities, and promote a vision of the future for our athletic program. The council actively facilitates communication between student-athletes and the community of Skaneateles through various student driven activities, social media, and fundraising. Membership on the council provides student-athletes with problem-solving and critical thinking skills necessary to contribute and adapt to an ever-changing world. The school’s staff, parents, Board of Education and community share the responsibility for this mission.
