About:
W.T. Clarke Middle School students in the East Meadow School District recently participated in the schoolwide “Great Kindness Challenge” to spread kindness throughout their building and community.
During the last week of January, students engaged in daily kindness-related activities, including Dream of Kindness Day, where they were encouraged to wear their pajamas. On Crazy for Kindness Day, students were encouraged to sport crazy hats and hairstyles. Students also nominated a peer who best exemplified “the kindest kid at Clarke.”
Culminating the week, students donated nonperishable food items to Island Harvest through the school’s annual Soup-er Bowl food drive. On the day of collection, they were encouraged to wear their favorite team jersey or Clarke spirit-wear as they donated items such as soup, pasta, cereal and snacks for those in need.
More than 100 pounds of nonperishable food items were donated to Island Harvest through the successful drive.
