About:
St. Croix Preparatory Academy recently brought together students, families, and community members for a special Youth & Food Shelf Night during a boys varsity basketball game in the Lions Den. The event combined school spirit, youth engagement, and community service, creating a meaningful evening both on and off the court.
Fans were encouraged to support local families in need by donating non-perishable food items. In return, attendees received free adult admission with the donation of five items, helping to increase participation while promoting generosity and awareness around food insecurity. The initiative provided an accessible way for the community to give back while enjoying an exciting night of high school basketball.
Youth Night activities added to the energy of the event, featuring contests, prizes, team autographs, and opportunities for younger students to connect with varsity athletes. These interactions helped strengthen school pride and foster positive role modeling, as student-athletes used their platform to inspire the next generation.
By combining athletics with service, St. Croix Prep demonstrated how sporting events can become powerful opportunities to support important causes. The Youth & Food Shelf Night not only rallied the Lions community around their basketball program but also made a meaningful contribution to local food shelf efforts — highlighting the lasting impact of teamwork and community engagement.
