About:
Each month, Stewart School students participate in the “pretzels with a purpose” service-learning program which allows students to purchase Philly Pretzel Factory pretzels, knowing that the money collected will be used for a good cause of their choosing. April’s cause was particularly personal for one Stewart student, third grader Nikki Vona.
Nikki submitted April’s “pretzels with a purpose” proposal in honor of her grandfather who recently passed due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease, asking that donations be made to the Long Island chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Thanks to Nikki’s efforts and the generous donations of Stewart School students and families, a total of $820.40 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Association to help in their mission to end Alzheimer’s for future generations. The district and Stewart School are so proud of Nikki’s initiative and the efforts of her fellow students in supporting this cause.
