About:
Students at Stratford Elementary School in the Garden City School District launched a new initiative geared at spreading kindness and words of inspiration. Dubbed “Stratford Rocks,” the movement asks students to decorate rocks with words of kindness and place them throughout the school. When students find a rock, they are challenged to “pay it forward” and place the rock in a different spot for another student to find.
Coordinated by speech teacher Lori Hand, the Stratford Rocks initiative complements one of the district’s priorities for the 2019-20 school year: to identify and implement programs to meet students’ mental health and social-emotional needs.
