About:
Student athletes who are members of the High School National Honor Society made 30 blankets for donation to our local Code Blue site.
This was the second year that our National Honor Society has done this blanket making activity. This year we split up into two different groups, due to Covid social distancing, and met after school for a little over an hour each time. Our members made 30 fleece blankets in order to donate to the Rural Outreach Center: Code Blue site. The ROC provides numerous community services to help enable folks in our surrounding communities to become self-sufficient. The Code Blue site is opened as the temperature drops below 32 degrees. Individuals and families can use this site to take shelter and then they leave with the warm blankets they use.
My NHS members are heavily involved in athletics in our school and community. Approximately 46 of our 58 members are involved in some aspect of school sports. Many of our members who aren’t on a sports team are involved in other activities such as snowboarding and skiing. I truly believe these groups have kept them going during these crazy times. Even during the times when things were shut down, the camaraderie that brings our athletes and the community together have really gotten all of us through hard times; as a team.
