Members of the Student Government Organization (SGO) from Wyandanch Union Free School District’s Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School began their school clean up initiative on Dec. 16.
Officers and delegates of the SGO walked around the school grounds to tidy up the area, as well as rake leaves from around the perimeter of the buildings.
The organization plans to host several volunteer cleanup efforts for the school district that will include helping clean up other parts of the district’s school buildings and Wyandanch Park.
“This is just the beginning of the SGO’s community service programs,” said Dr. Monique Habersham, principal of Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. “There is much more to come in the new year, and we are so excited!”
