About:
Northport High School’s Future Educators Association club – which includes student-athletes- participated in a blanket making party on Dec. 20 where members created 10 no-sew blankets to donate to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.
The club’s blanket making party has become an annual tradition. Members dressed in comfortable clothing and ate pizza while watching a video on how to properly create a no-sew blanket. They then worked together to cut and tie the fleece to transform it into a usable blanket. In addition to creating blankets for those in need, the club also put together a special camouflage blanket for one of the member’s brothers, who is going through cancer treatment.
“Our goal is to service children and families in the community” said club adviser Antonette DiGiacomo. “The students are in this club because they love children and we try to select projects that service our local community as much as possible.”
