About:
The halls of Hewlett High School were buzzing with giving spirit this past Saturday thanks to a charitable toy drive organized by students. The Hewlett High School Student Council partnered with the school’s basketball teams to host their 3rd annual toy drive fundraiser during 4 exciting games vs Valley Stream South HS and Long Beach HS on December 2nd.
The student council representatives worked tirelessly, greeting community members at the games, collecting new toy donations, and selling snacks and refreshments. Their efforts paid off – this year’s event garnered over 100 gifted toys, the most toys collected in a single year so far.
The toys will be donated to SIBS Place, a local organization that provides support for children dealing with a seriously ill parent or sibling. By giving back in this way, the students aimed to bring joy directly to kids who need it most.
Every year the turnout grows. It’s great to see our community come together around this event to help SIBS Place and put smiles on faces. Plans are already in the works to make next year’s toy drive even bigger.
The overflowing donation boxes and stands full of cheering fans were proof that Hewlett High School students have mastered teamwork not just on the basketball court, but for charitable causes off it as well.
