About:
Sweet Home Boys Lacrosse is stepping up in a meaningful way by combining athletics and service to support fellow student-athletes through an upcoming Athlete Snack Drive.
The initiative will take place during the team’s varsity game on Friday, May 8 at 7:00 PM, where community members are encouraged to donate essential snack and hydration items to benefit the SHEF Athlete Snack Program. Requested donations include granola bars, protein bars, pretzels, peanut butter, and Gatorade Zero — all items that help fuel student-athletes before and after practices and competitions.
The Sweet Home Education Foundation-sponsored program is designed to support students in grades 7-12 by providing free snacks and beverages before practices, games, and other after-school activities. Thanks to the generosity of community members, Sweet Home alumni, and Sweet Home Athletic Hall of Fame member Katie (Niblock) Badura, the program continues to make a positive impact across the school community.
Overseen by longtime Sweet Home Athletic Trainer Marcy Gerlach, the snack program not only supports athletes, but also extends to students participating in musicals, clubs, the weight room, and other after-school activities. The initiative has become an important part of creating a positive, supportive environment where students feel cared for and connected.
By organizing and promoting this drive, the Sweet Home Boys Lacrosse program is demonstrating that leadership goes beyond competition. Their efforts reflect the true spirit of athletics — using teamwork, service, and community support to make a lasting impact on others both on and off the field.
