About:
On Saturday, May 11th, the entire Sweet Home Girls Varsity Softball team, accompanied by their coach and several supportive families, took part in a meaningful 2-mile walk event. The team, consisting of 13 dedicated players, gathered early in the morning at 8:30 AM and completed the walk and festivities by noon.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from athletes Olivia Kuzara, Caroline Carlino, Kendra Kapuszcak, Mariah Robbins, Kaitlyn Taylor, Chloe Bandelian, Sammy Mullen, Madison Miller, Elise McDuffie, Gabby Boitschenko, Paige Bellanti, Alyssa Phillips, Avery Gaume, and Coach Crystal Carlson. Their presence and effort were a testament to their commitment to the community.
In preparation for this event, the Sweet Home Softball team dedicated two months to fundraising, ultimately raising an impressive $920 for the Summit Center. Their motivation for choosing this particular fundraiser was deeply personal, as many team members have personal connections to individuals living with autism. Additionally, Coach Crystal Carlson’s work with exceptional classrooms at Maplemere Elementary made this cause especially significant for the team.
The event was more than just a walk; it was an opportunity for the team to unite for a cause bigger than themselves. By giving back to the community, they demonstrated the true spirit of teamwork and compassion. The Sweet Home Girls Varsity Softball team’s participation in the walk was a perfect embodiment of their dedication to making a positive impact beyond the softball field.
