About:

Several clubs at Ward Melville High School recently teamed up together to foster a sense of unity throughout the Three Village school community by launching a T-Shirt fundraiser to benefit the Erase Racism organization.

The project was conceptualized during an initial discussion at a Muslim Student Association meeting and then sparked a collaboration plan involving the Diversity Club, Students United in Faith, Hebrew Culture Club and the Patriot League student groups. Club members met via Google Classroom to create T-shirt designs that promoted their mission, voted on which idea to move forward with and ultimately finalized their design plans to ensure all of the clubs were presented and included. The final shirts were imprinted with the names of the participating clubs on the back and the words “Diversity is our Strength, Unity is our Power” on the front.

Through word of mouth, the club members then sold the T-shirts and raised more than $1,000 for the cause. Students and staff have been wearing the shirts on designated days to help further spread the notion that “together we rise, divided we fall.”
