Tartan Football once again demonstrated what leadership looks like beyond the field. In November the players stepped up in a meaningful way by volunteering with HyVee’s Thanksgiving meal program, supporting an effort that brings comfort and nourishment to families during the holiday season.
The team dedicated their afternoon to folding and assembling boxes that will hold complete Thanksgiving meals — a crucial step in ensuring HyVee can efficiently distribute food to local households. What may seem like a simple task carries significant impact, and the athletes approached it with teamwork, dedication, and positive energy.
Their service is part of a broader partnership with HyVee, as the team also helps serve roughly 1,000 meals at HyVee’s Veterans Day breakfast each year from 6–10 a.m. Later that same week, they return to construct the Thanksgiving meal boxes, volunteering 2–4 hours depending on the number needed.
Through these efforts, Tartan Football highlights its commitment to compassion, gratitude, and making a meaningful difference in the community. Their willingness to show up, serve others, and work together continues to set a powerful example both on and off the field.
