Members of Team Sachem in the Town of Brookhaven Polar Plunge were recognized by the Sachem Board of Education for their success in this year’s fundraiser. The Polar Plunge raises money to support Special Olympics New York athletes. Team Sachem was a top fundraising team, collecting nearly $20,000 for the cause. This equates to supporting 50 local Special Olympics athletes.
Team Sachem has been participating in the Polar Plunge for nine years, raising more than $100,000 in total. Teachers, students and Sachem school community members make up the team and look forward to participating each year.
