About:
Anticipation filled the air as a smiling crowd awaited the start of Lynbrook High School’s 16th annual Cabaret Night. As audience members took their seats, the lights were dimmed, transforming the otherwise ordinary school cafeteria into a cozy cabaret lounge, as performers carried their guests away on a magical musical journey.
Tri-M president Hannah Chiappisi was the evening’s emcee, introducing each act with her own personal flair. The performers dazzled friends and families with two complete acts of music, comedy and dance numbers. The high school brass ensemble provided lively musical interludes between acts. Cabaret Night, which is organized and planned entirely by Tri-M members each year, gives students throughout the school the opportunity to show off a more personal side of their musical talents, while raising money for local charities. This year the food pantries of St. Raymond’s Church in East Rockaway and Our Lady of Peace Church in Lynbrook will each receive $750 as a result of the students’ efforts.
“It’s humbling to see the level of student collaboration that occurs each year” said Tri-M advisor Alyssa White. “While Tri-M officers run behind-the-scenes logistics, student musicians come together to provide a truly unique experience for everyone involved.”
