About:
The Casey Taub Memorial 22:22 Soccer Jamboree was initiated in remembrance of Casey Taub, a member of the Horace Greeley boys varsity soccer team. Tragically, Casey succumbed to Glioblastoma, a lethal brain tumor, in July 2017, during his sophomore year. Casey’s jersey bore the number 22. In the first home game after his passing, a tribute was held in his honor. As spectators stood and applauded during the game’s 22nd minute, Greeley netted a goal precisely at 22:22 on the clock. This poignant moment inspired the name of the soccer jamboree.
During the jamboree, attending teams are requested to make a contribution. Additionally, merchandise and refreshments are available for purchase. All proceeds from the day are generously donated to The Matthew Larson Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors (www.Ironmatt.org). This foundation not only supports research endeavors but also offers direct financial aid to families dealing with their children’s brain cancer.
