With a sunny sky and brisk breezes, Archer Street Elementary School students, staff and members of Freeport’s administration gathered at the school for their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.
This year, the school’s Turkey Trot kicked off with Principal Paula Lein thanking the students for their hard work and expressing to them the impact they had in raising funds for Whip Pediatric Cancer, an organization that raises awareness for pediatric cancer and helps fund research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Principal Lein then presented the organization with a check for $4,221 to help fund the organization’s mission.
Following, wearing festive hats, crowns and holding thanksgiving-themed signs Archer’s first through fourth grade students walked two laps around the school building as part of their annual fundraiser, proving that raising money for a good cause is also a great way to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
