East Rockaway’s Centre Avenue Elementary School welcomed local veterans and New York State Assembly member Judy Griffin to meet with first graders on Feb. 14. The students gave veterans handcrafted Valentine’s Day cards that thanked them for “protecting our country,” “being brave,” “helping our country,” and “keeping us safe.”
