About:
This week, the Victor High School Boys Soccer team continued their tradition of making a positive impact by hosting the Victor Challenger Program. The team engaged participants in soccer drills, culminating in a fun and inclusive scrimmage. The Challenger program, which enables children with disabilities to enjoy sports like soccer, has become a meaningful part of the team’s outreach. It gives the student-athletes a chance to share their passion for the game while giving back to the community.
On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Boys Varsity Soccer team volunteered at the Challenger event on the Victor Central School campus. The directors of Challenger Sports, Greg and Sherri Helmer—Victor residents and parents of two Challenger athletes—reached out to the team for the second year in a row. Coaches Kelly Ahern and Steve Fish were excited to have their players participate again.
The team’s commitment to fostering community, teamwork, and inclusion is commendable. The high school players enjoyed teaching their skills, and the Challenger athletes valued the mentorship and connection with the older players. The day was filled with smiles and camaraderie.
Victor Soccer’s dedication to creating lasting memories for everyone involved continues to make them leaders both on and off the field. The team will welcome the Challenger athletes back for another event on October 17th.
These events showcase how athletics can create a lasting impact within the community, where everyone truly wins.
