About:
The whole Victor Volleyball team contributed in one way or another. Whether that meant actually bringing bags or telling friends to help bring in bags. There were also some kids on the JV team who donated as well. I’m not sure how long each teammate helped for, but I know that I put in about 2-3 hours into this project. I would estimate that each player probably spent an hour helping out. One of our teammates even reached out to the PTSA, and they donated a few bags. In total we donated over 60 bags, each filled with after school snacks.
I’ve worked with the Boys and Girls Club before because I really believe in what they do. It amazed me that there are kids my own age, in my own community that don’t know if they can have a snack after school, or if they will have dinner that night. I did a winter coat and canned food drive for them earlier this year, and that was covered by the Democrat and Chronicle. Here is a link to that story:
I was hoping to work with the club again, so I reached out the Dwayne Mahoney, the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester, and together we came up with the idea of doing a sports bag drive with my volleyball team.
We gathered all of the donations in about a week, and gave all the donations to the club at our game this past Monday, the 19th. A few kids from the club were able to come and watch our game. I have attached some pictures of the donations we were able to give to the club.
