About:
Wading River School fifth graders welcomed a guest speaker into their classroom via Google Meet on Nov. 10. Marshall Picken visited Tonia Ammirati and Meredith Trani’s class to share his experiences as a veteran. Mr. Picken gave the students insight into his experience serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam war as a meteorologist. He also shared what Veterans Day means to him, saying that he was proud to be a veteran and feels that the experience helped shape his life in a positive way.
Students throughout the school also showed gratitude to the nation’s veterans by creating a Veterans Day Wall of Honor comprised of decorated stars. The school district commends all the students for this patriotic display of appreciation.
