About:
This year, over $80,000 has been raised for cancer research, thanks to the efforts of athletes like Jamal, Nick, and Noah from Walpole Football who wholeheartedly supported and participated in ASFL.
A Shot For Life (ASFL), a sports-based non-profit organization, is dedicated to funding health and cancer research initiatives. Through various sports-based initiatives, community events, and online activities, ASFL effectively engages and unites communities, instilling hope and nurturing community leadership.
These three individuals were anonymously nominated to participate in ASFL. After undergoing a rigorous selection process involving film review, resume scrutiny, and accolade assessment, they were chosen to participate in the program. Additionally, they committed to fundraising for the cause, leveraging social media platforms and reaching out to family members for support.
Noah Mackenzie, one of the participants, went above and beyond by securing sponsorship from the Walpole Jr Women’s Club and the Walpole Lions Club. His personal connections, including family and friends affected by glioblastoma, further fueled his fundraising efforts. Despite facing a foot injury, Jamal was present at the event, albeit unable to participate fully.
Despite the setback, Noah’s team, Team Cure, emerged victorious at the event. Noah himself boasts an impressive array of accolades, including being named Bay State League All-Star, New England Football Journal Division 3 Player of the Year, and many more.
In addition, we want to celebrate Jamal Abdal-Khallaq’s recent recognition as a member of the Mass High School Football Coaches All-State Team for 2024.
