While sitting in my classroom at school the captains, Charlie Gaynor and Kelvin Orellana Bonilla, were discussing the kicks for cancer game and Declan came into conversation. Immediately a lightbulb went off and we got the wheels turning that moment to order a set of jerseys with Declans name along with ordering a set for the Lyons Family.
I was so proud of our captains for putting things in motion and having the follow through to help get this done. We wanted to show our support for Dr. Lyons and his son, and given his role at the highschool he has close proximity to much of the team.
It felt like the perfect opportunity given the context of Kicks for Cancer and the impact Declans diagnosis has had at Waltham High School.
