About:
The Waltham High School Field Hockey team brought a special purpose to the field on October 16, hosting a Pink Gameduring its highly anticipated rematch against top-ranked Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.
Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event provided an opportunity for the Hawks to bring attention to an important cause while demonstrating the power of student-athletes to make a difference beyond competition.
Hawks Take the Field for a Cause
Despite rainy weather, Waltham’s field hockey program prepared to welcome Lincoln-Sudbury to its new turf field for an afternoon centered on competition, school spirit, and community support.
The Pink Game highlighted how high school athletics can bring student-athletes, families, and fans together for a shared purpose.
By incorporating a meaningful cause into their matchup, the Hawks helped emphasize the importance of compassion, teamwork, and supporting others.
Making an Impact Beyond the Field
Events like Waltham’s Pink Game remind us that the lessons learned through sports extend far beyond wins and losses.
Through initiatives that promote awareness and community involvement, student-athletes have the opportunity to lead by example, inspire their peers, and demonstrate that their impact reaches beyond the playing field.
