About:
On September 21, the Wappingers Women’s Lacrosse team took time to give back to their community by volunteering at the local youth program’s Fall Ball practices. The players enjoyed mentoring the younger athletes, sharing their skills, and helping to foster a love for the game among the next generation of lacrosse players.
The team expressed their gratitude to everyone who works behind the scenes to make these opportunities possible, recognizing that community support is key to growing the sport and providing valuable experiences for both the high school players and the youth participants. It was a great day of teamwork, mentorship, and community spirit, proving once again that Wappingers Women’s Lacrosse is committed to making an impact both on and off the field!
In addition to this fantastic community effort, another powerful event took place earlier this week. On September 18, the John Jay Patriots and Ketcham Storm came together for an inaugural memorial matchup to honor former John Jay coach Kerry Roger. This special game brought together two teams in remembrance of Coach Roger, who made a lasting impact on the community. It was a meaningful day, showcasing the importance of honoring those who’ve shaped and supported athletes both on and off the field.
As both teams rallied for a cause greater than the game, it served as a reminder of how sports can bring communities together in powerful ways. Wappingers Women’s Lacrosse and the John Jay Patriots exemplify how teams can make a difference, not only in their athletic performance but in their community involvement as well.
