About:
Students and staff at Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School in the Port Washington Union Free School District recently came together to celebrate P.S. I Love You Day, a day dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, kindness, and community support.
This year’s theme, “Be The Light,” was symbolized by a lighthouse—representing hope, guidance, and the importance of taking action to support mental health. Throughout the day, students and staff showed their solidarity by wearing purple, the movement’s official color.
The celebration encouraged members of the school community to stand together in fighting the stigma surrounding mental health while promoting empathy, positivity, and kindness toward one another.
By participating in activities that highlight compassion and connection, students were reminded that everyone can be a light for someone else—whether through a kind word, offering support, or simply helping others feel seen and valued.
Events like this demonstrate how schools can create supportive environments where students feel connected and empowered to care for themselves and their peers, strengthening the sense of community within Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School.
