About:
The Webster Schroeder varsity field hockey team recently hosted their annual Stick it to Cancer game, where players, friends, and family came together to support the American Cancer Society. The event was a resounding success, with the team surpassing their $800 fundraising goal to raise an impressive $1,220.
Dressed in pink socks and warm-up shirts, the team hit the field with passion and purpose, dedicating the game to raising cancer awareness and supporting the fight against a disease that affects so many lives. This beloved “Pink Game” has become a cherished tradition, uniting the team and community in a shared mission to make a difference. The funds raised will go directly to the American Cancer Society, supporting cancer research, patient services, and advocacy efforts.
Beyond the field, the team also dedicated time to supporting Challenger Athletics in Webster, NY. They spent a day playing and coaching basketball with adults and children with disabilities, offering encouragement and building confidence in the athletes they supported.
A few weeks later, the team participated in Challenger Athletics’ annual Halloween party. Dressed in costumes, the players arrived early to decorate the space and bring the festive vision to life. They then spent time with attendees, making the event a memorable and joyful occasion for everyone involved.
Looking ahead, the team is committed to continuing their volunteer efforts throughout the year, with their next event planned for Valentine’s Day.
The Webster Schroeder field hockey team exemplifies the impact that student-athletes can have on their community. Whether through fundraising, volunteering, or spreading positivity, these young women are making a lasting difference both on and off the field.
