About:

In honor of Firefighter Appreciation Day on May 4, members of the West End Elementary School Student Council in the Lynbrook Public Schools created goodie bags for the brave individuals at the East Rockaway Fire Department.

The goodie bags consisted of small candies and snacks, each specifically selected for a particular reason. Each bag featured a tag labeled “Firefighters Survival Kit” and listed what the candy and snacks meant. For example, the goodie bag included a lifesaver candy because firefighters save lives. Student council members hoped that this small token of appreciation would put smiles on the faces of their local heroes.
