About:
The West Hempstead High School Language in the Community class celebrated Valentine’s Day by baking dog treats and selling them to members around the school.
Made from scratch in the school’s PAES Lab, the homemade pumpkin dog treats were made and packaged by students in Sheila Dempsey’s class. PAES stands for “practical assessment exploration system” and will serve as a simulated work environment for middle and high school students with specific learning needs. The proceeds totaled more than $230 and will be donated to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.
