About:
Members of the Dignity and Tolerance Club at West Hempstead Middle School celebrated kindness and positivity throughout the week of Feb. 7, culminating with P.S. I Love You Day on Feb. 12. The purpose of P.S. I Love You Day is to destigmatize mental health issues and remind students that they are cared for.
“We want to let the kids know we’re here for them,” school social worker and club adviser Cari Lubliner said.
The theme for this year’s P.S. I Love You was “together we will rise.” Students created posters with QR codes that directed those who may be in need to the Long Island Crisis Center and placed positive notes throughout the building. Additionally, the school’s student council donated money for purple bracelets with special messages inside.
